I owned this old art deco bar from my family's small farmtown in Eastern WA. All my long distance relatives, generations drank at this bar. Stories, beer, whiskey, farmtown stories and secrets.
I couldn't find a buyer or a bar to keep it alive and my dream of owning one is not a reality in the short term...and I can't keep storing it forever, especially after selling my house and it's 20' long. I was grasping...but decided to "Upcycle it" into guitars.
I'll update as I hear more as I just turned it over, but the builder makes some pretty amazing custom guitars: http://schoenguitars.com/
Not an add - just something really cool to keep my family history and now almost a ghosttown alive. |

very cool! Do you get a custom guitar for donating the wood? Any recognizable knots or grain patterns that you can select? |

That was the deal - a guitar for the bar. And hopefully can recoup and make money form the rest of the bar.
The bar is mostly faux mahogany finishes on many different types of wood - so it's primarily functional folk art. There are some wood knotches/carvings around the whole top of the back bar - I'll get more pics of that later on.
It was nothing extravagant or ornate but it is historical and I think will be killer to play a guitar made of the bar - made by an amazing/respected luthier. Kinda feels like it has instant mojo and voices - and I hate the "mojo" word. |

Cool bar. Shame you couldn't keep it but an awesome thing you are doing instead. |

Yeah, we talked about a guitar and matching combo amp...exactly.
It's being broken down and then let the ideas flow.
I'll update here as it moves on... |
