Gary's 100% Skateboarder Honolulu Chapter jacket JayBoy gave him:

Him and Kale Sandridge are probably the unofficial (or maybe official) chapter presidents.

I read this twice. Awesome story. It invokes a lot of memories for me as i lived on the islands for 7 years and it was the only place i ever saw Jay Adams. I've been to skate events all over the world and have skated and/or partied with many folks, but the only time I met Jay was at a punk show/ festival in Hawaii. I only nodded at him, too cool to go talk, but he nodded back ad I didn't need to talk to him. Anyone who grew up skating like me knows him in some way. The stories you read etc, so just seeing him was enough to know the legend he was. I miss the islands. I loved a good south swell. We use to go to sand island and paddle down the reef to kehi lagoon by the airport. That reef has a perfect left that breaks much like bowls. The reef has a couple shallow spots, but if its hitting anywhere from 4-8 ft, that's a sick left you usually get all to yourself.

Thanks for the story 8th, it was great.
