| I am having trouble getting a nice tight screen. I am using the bent screens, the frame cut to the contours of my decks. I stretched the mesh over the top, cause going over the bottom didn't get me good results, but anyway I went over the top and did it almost like a canvas. I used a staple gun and even when I was done i went back and took staples out and re-stretched certain areas. i glued it afterwards, of course, but when I went to print the mesh was still too loose. I had off contact of around 1/2 inch and the mesh was sticking to the boards. no pop off. I need to get this next frame tighter, any suggestions on stretching procedures? |

best way would be to get yourself a roller frame a good deal larger. stretch it on the rollers, lay it over your bent frame, attach it, call it good.
Cryano adhesive would probably be best on the high spots to anchor it, then staple the low spots |

i actually get a very large piece of silk screen, tie a bunch of knots in each corner... I then have a "tool" that consist of a 4x4 piece of plywood with a eyehook screw in each corner and a bar stool centered on the plywood.
I then place the frame on the bar stool (i have to put a 2x4 under the frame since its larger then the stool) and drape the screen over it..
I then tie rope to each of the corners of the eyeloops... two of the corners have a short rope with a turnbuckle and then more rope... the other two just a rope
I then tie the rope to the screen and the knots secure it... then I tighten one corner a bit... then the other... I repeat until its were I like it... once i get there, I glue it, put some duct tape around the flat edges and staple the shit out of it with a pneumatic air gun...
I have done two this way and they came out pretty good... I will put one together this weekend and take pics if I have time...
I devised this after my wife got pissed I kept asking her to play tug of frame war with me... |
