Hey guys. just a quick question from me; what is the best way to make the background colour for a deck? is it spray paint? inks? look at this deck http://www.daddiesboardshop.com/Produ...ecks/cab2-600.jpg what method did they use to put the light blue background colour on it? thanks.

in some cases, that would be a dyed veneer layer. however, with all this new technology that could very easily be a printed color pass, even with the wood grain detail being printed as well.

I'd say died veneer as well.

On those "dyed veneer" looking decks coming from Powell Classic and Powell Peralta, the "dye" is actually a translucent background color printed on the heat transfer, and then the opaque graphic is printed over that, and the whole thing is transferred onto the deck. That way it looks like a dyed veneer, but really it is translucent print that will flake off...

but with the died veneer, its not completely opaque. you can still see the grain really easily

ok....

and you need it to be opaque?

then it would just be a full pass of color either printed direct to deck, transferred via heat press or sprayed on with aerosol or spray gun.
