dead

Lower Paxton Twp. had plans to put a $550,000 skatepark facility in George Park. But the plans fell through after the township was denied a grant, and a fundraising organization, The Freedom Group, couldn’t raise enough money.
“Our project is not dead, just dormant,” said George Wolfe, the township manager. “We’re hoping that we can be successful in obtaining grant funds and as the economy locally improves, The Freedom Group will be more successful.”

They tried to raise the money by having a bake sale once a year.

It's all about organizing people, rallying even more for the events, the amount of time those people as a whole have and will devote to it, the amount of money people will throw down while they're at the individual benefit events, and the amount of money you recieve from grants. Unless the money is just there waiting to be used and then hopefully the skaters will get lucky enough to get a decent design and build and not get a prefab cookie cutter.

Like that will get the money quick.

Like carvengrind said, it's a full time job to raise money and get the project off the ground.
