The 12 yr old has expressed an interest in learning freestyle...I know absolutely nothing about what to get him. He's a tall for his age 100 pound kid.

Good brands? Does size matter @ this stage for him?

Any help would be much appreciated

Jason

go with some new indy 109's & kevin harris momentum wheels...as for a deck pick up 1 of those reshaped powells on ebay & if he doesnt like that at first try a bigger shape next

I would recommend going with a SK8KINGS freestyle deck, they use their own molds for decks so that you don't get some freestyle board that was molded in a street concave (they usually have a weird feeling at the nose and kick tail and the concave is wrong for a smaller board when a street mold is used). Now the better freestylers mix old and new tricks so I wouldn't get a short skinny board either unless your going pogo (Yawn). I could recommend my model at SK8KINGS but I would say take a look at the whole lineup to see what he might like. My model is the closest to a regular street board. I prefer using Indy 129 Hollows on my model and the wheels that have been proven time after time are their Freestyle Crown Jewel wheels, the harder ones for use on smooth concrete surfaces and the slightly softer for use on regular asphalt. I hope this info helps.

I bought a Decomposed Ray Meyer deck and the new Indy 101's (maybe called 109's) and was wondering what is the proper wheel mm for a freestyle wheel? I think it is 55 mm but was thinking of going even a little smaller?
