Soon.
Nothing hire than 4ft tall, 12 ft-15ft wide......not sure on flat, looking for expert opinions.
questions I have are:
Isn't plywood good enough vs getting expensive topping?
Can you Thompson water seal the entire thing? I live in Buffalo, tarp it in winter or let snow sit normal?
Also, any objections to doing half ramp 4ft and the other half 3 ft? Or is that pushing it with due to size? If ok to do, should taller side be closer to back of garage or shorter side? I.e. ramp will run parallel with garage......
Also, thought about excavating sort of where flat is just above grass and building ramp into ground vs above.....or is that ramp murder? Like building a garage ramp but placing in ground width of 2x4 thus the flat sits just above grass. I'm hoping Thomppson sealing that or getting pressure treated wood would make that a viable option.
Thank for reading and I apologize for my ignorance in advance! |

So, you are thinking of doing one whole side 3' and the other side 4'? Im not a ramp guy, but wouldnt you always hit that 3' side with more speed than needed or wanted, since you'll be coming off 4'? If you do it 12' wide, why dont you do a 4' high and wide extension on each side or something? then you will have 3' high at 8' wide and then the extension. Or if you do it 15' wide, do 4' high and wide extensions and then have 11' wide at 3'. No clue, you probably know more than i do |

No, I meant what you said' 4ft extensions. I know no one my age with a backyard ramp, them days are done in my world. I'm goofy foot, so thinking extensions on my right.....closer to garage.....but I don't know, don't want to build this thing and say fuck at end of it. |

Check out http://rampplans.org/ , I'm a mod over there.
Also, don't dig it into the ground, make sure it's either on blocks above the ground, or on posts set in the ground. It'll rot otherwise.
If I were starting over, I'd use all pressure treated wood. Anything else will rot no matter what sealer, varnish or paint you use. Poly tarps are not waterproof, and fall apart.
My obsession:
