Love it! Thanks for posting these. I always forget to check.
The first 60 seconds sums it up.

(and I love Rodney Mullen and what he did)

Not sure why Grosso has to rage on something Mullen said. Mullen says some of the weirdest off the wall shit in the skating world and is likely on the autism spectrum. My take on Mullen is that he went from being the greatest freestyle skater to becoming one of the greatest street skaters so clearly his freestyle skills translated.

And should Grosso really be commenting on anything "street" related? He probably couldn't beat Gator in a street contest.

Because someone has to do it, otherwise the Mullen fans will never get incensed and choke Mullen with their blind support of everything Mullen. He's doing Mullen a service.

Hell yes. he should—he's very good at it. LOL!

Grosso rode street before it was called street as did most of his peers. Who cares who beats who in a street contest? Really? Street skating is what we did to get to the ramps, get to the bar or when we just didn't have time to go to the ramp or when we came across a spot that was so enticing we couldn't resist.

'Cept we just called it skateboarding.

Pretty much anybody who goes to a contest...including Grosso. It was just a joke, I am sure Grosso is an excellent street skater. Probably even invented it

I think Grosso is at his best when he uses his encyclopedic knowledge of magazine ads and bowl sessions to get everyone stoked about skate history. He is great at giving props to overlooked skaters. This freestyle conspiracy episode just left me scratching my head. Freestyle was probably seen as a joke to Grosso which might explain his apparent bitterness about Mullen.

At 8:35, Grosso mentions the ad of Rocco doing a street plant. That ad for me was one that has been etched in my mind since I first saw it.

After receiving that mag in the mail and seeing that ad, I tried doing street plants like that on what few shitty transitions we had in our town. Of course, living in a small town in PA I tried imitating everything I saw in the mags, especially the flat ground stuff since that and curbs was pretty much all we had. But that specific ad is one that helped shape how I rode. I learned to do street plant wall rides, without taking my feet of the board, as a result of that ad.

Cool that Grosso mentioned it. And, not all flatlanders were straightedge.
