Wanted to try making my own longboard for some time now, but just finally got around to it. I started with a piece of 50"x12" Baltic Birch I ordered from Eastbilt. Made a template, cut it out, routered and sanded the edges, some stain, poly, and crushed glass on top for grip. I set it up with some Indy's and OJ III's. Super smooth and comfy ride, especially with the really subtle flex the board has. Perfect for getting a little faded and just cruising. I might get some softer bushings though as I have the trucks really loose with the stock bushings. Overrall length is 42" by 8.5" with a 32" wheelbase. It was a blast making, now I want to make more, maybe with concave and kicktail.
First template I made had the board at 49" long, but I ended up cutting 7" off of it.

Thanks!
I work at a golf course, so this afternoon during my lunchbreak i took it out to some of our freshly paved cart paths and made some runs. They're really hilly with lots of highs and lows, fun as hell! |

Hey I'm in the process of making a mini cruiser like the old school skateboards, what's the process of adding the grip with the poly, I'm gonna use sand and poly so how do I get the sand to stick on and how many coats of poly. good job on the board |
