Just saw a Cab dragon on bearing with no copyright. Also, saw a McGill skull and snake with no copyright so apparently some McGill skull and snakes had the copyright and some didn't. |

Ahhhh this picture helps a lot! The company was founded in 1978! The copyright in the banner was used to copyright the name Powell Peralta as a sticker and not just the name with the dragon.... That came later. You can verify this by searching the web for it's copyright number VA0000219215 |

I have a pig ripper with the 1979 in the banner,
I have seen a few others ( couple rippers and a McGill).
I talked to to Billy Baker @ Powell about this a year or so ago.
Basically, he said all it was was some dudes fucking around in the print shop back in the day. Something about the image of the fat tailed dragon with the "© 1979" was used for a sticker back then and someone make a screen for the topside of decks. It just got randomly used every once and awhile.
I think it's kinda neat, but it isn't special or rare. |
