Maybe a thread on this but, have Santa Cruz gone mad? Pre-Issues!
I will be honest I love NHS. I love Jim Phillips Graphics, I love weird metallic multi fade re-issues that were never once released. I don't mind the fact that re issues have now been issued far longer than their original release times. I can live with their 'strategic alliances' with the Simpsons, Star Wars as long as it keeps them trading. I can understand using the China woodshops (although wish they would screen) and hell the fact that sometimes the shrink leaves a corrosive film on the graphic if you leave it on too long annoys me but makes me deshrink quickly.
I don't get pre-issues, surely once you issue, it is a release. You can not have a pre issue? Its a paradox! Are they going to release it on mass release in 5 years time and this is just a limited release? NO.
To me they are new graphics in the style of their 80's heritage on old school shapes! Why call them pre-issues? I think 'Veterans Division' was a better term to capture the new school work they did for the old school team. |

Yeah- the concept is lost on me as well, maybe it means something to the kids and I am just too old to understand. |

The Pre-Issue title is (my guess) just a marketing term. I think it's kind of funny, although a paradox.
I can also see why they didn't use Veterans Division, as the Vets stuff was more of a modern/classic style deck (as the Pre-Issue is more like the re-issue shape).
Make sense? No? Yeah, I know...

I thought the first pre-issue pass had some cool shapes.

The promo vid wasn't bad either.

as with most wider SC boards, the wheelbase is too short for my taste.
makes them good 'old-school street decks' or 'cruiser decks' which isn't what I want to ride. they feel too short on a ramp or in a pool.
if that problem had been solved, they could call them 'Trump-issues' and I wouldn't give a rat's ass… |
