I live in an area where we get some snow and rain in the winter. I get board and want to ride more. so I figured Id get a board for the winter which I don't care about.
The problem I have is the bearings. I could ride cheap bearings but thats not me. I am looking for good bearings for wet weather. or maybe I should just pack grease in good bearings.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I grabbed a set of those Rush bearings. We shall see how it goes. |

No grease...use very thin oil like sewing machine oil. Lube often, before every session, and especially in wet conditions. Lube after you skated too as moisture will condense on cold metal surfaces when they hit warm air. As long as they are kept lubed you're good.
Did alot of winter skating back in the day. My issue was base plates. Broke too many Bennett and Tracker Ultralite baseplates to count.
Have fun. Pavilions and basements are you best friend when snow is on the ground. |

In Winter my x wife used to apply a thin smear of vasoline to the outside of her bearing .
It kept the nice moist lube in and kept the crud moisture out.
Unfortunately I was the crud moisture.......that's why she's my ex.
Your avatar looks like Johnny just licked my ex wife's bearing...
Seriously , a little smear keeps everything inside tight and locked in. |

Rockin Rons with Extreme Fluid lube. Doesn't protect them, but allows them to be fast as fuck in the cold. Just don't get them wet—don't be lazy, clear the snow off well.
We usually have snow on the ground for most of 7 months and historically our crew worked their ass off to ensure we had a place to skate on days it was warm enough too. Sometimes we had a huge crew digging out big bowls sometimes just one of cleaning out a smaller bowl (and the fucking foot bridge over it) and it was hard fucking work but worth it.
The x-mas eve and New Years eve sessions were fucking epic!!!
Fortunately we have an indoor park for the moment but when we don't, you'll see skate rats out there with shovel in hand.
If you clear it well you don't have to worry about fucking up your bearings.

For gods sake, just go skate. Buy any olds bearing and ride em till they need to be replaced. Over analyzing your toy doesn’t always help |
