Hey, I have an idea for a new skateboard helmet and was wondering if I could get some insight. Here are my questions.

Do you think young skaters (4to12) should wear helmets till they learn how to Fall?
Are head injuries rare in older skaters?
Why do most older skaters not wear a helmet?

Any help would be great!

Yes.
Not sure...all my head injuries were not even skateboard related.
Parks around here you can tell the old farts by the pads and helmet...me included.

You probably can't divulge what your idea is in case of it being stolen. So you know, I'm pretty sure a Chia Helmet has been done before.

Most of the older skaters I skate with wear helmets.

Many of the parks require helmets.

Many of the skater kids Dad's skated and insist on helmets.

All skaters should wear helmets all the time when skating.

Its the street skaters and the magazines that have made helmets "uncool".

Lot cooler wearing a helmet than having to wear diapers after a head bonk. And it only takes one head bonk.

Your biggest hurdle besides the aforementioned "uncool" factor is getting it certified.

There's a Tom Carrol (surfer) interview somewhere where he talks about guys who wear a helmet after they have an accident... Like it takes a knock to the head to get the message - but by then its kinda too late when you have concussion.

you only need a helmet when your not wearing one...

Wish I didnt learn that the hard way.

the real problem is helmets (and head injuries) are not trendy!

I guess for street and low speeds wrist guards are most useful than helmets.

Most of the bails with wrist guards you protect your body a lot.

Hit the head on the ground is not so common.
