So Oasis and myself were talking and would like to gather some info about how to legitamize our businesses. What are the steps to becoming a registered company that can sell products to shops legally.

I dont manufacture my own boards, If that would make any difference in tax stuff. I know nothing about taxes and accounting so please be gentle on me.

(Oasis feel free to add some of your own questions and such.)

You may need to talk to a lawyer, which won't break the bank, but it won't be cheap...

You'd probably need to form an "LLC" (which is much cheaper than forming a corporation, "inc"). You'll probably also need some sort of tax license in order to collect (or be exempt from) sales taxes.

I started mine as a sole proprietor. You can just call up the gov and get your ein. Its free. It may vary state to state but I just paid $50 to LLC. My wife works at a law office so one of her lawyers wrote it all up. I'll scan it and ocr th docs if you want em.

As far as sales tax and that crap goes. You have to go to your state tax commission office and get yelled at for a while and sign your name to a few things. It may cost you up to $300 for your state tax id if you do not have a store front.

I think my excise licence cost about $15.
