so the wife and i held the 'open a skateshop dream' in serious consideration, but upon review of the play, the penalty was reversed, and we're thinking with two small kids to feed, that maybe going balls out with the shop would put us in bankrupty a little sooner than we'd like.

BUT

i mentioned shaping and screening our OWN decks..and her with an Art degree and silk screen knowledge, and me with no marketable skills (even in the porn industry)...i'm thinking, since i'll need a REAL job and anything on the business end of 'skate' would have to be the SIDE job
that this is something we could do out of our (now non-existant) garage

SO

having said all that:

What "essential" equipment would i need to start doing this

- commercial grade band/jig saw
- belt sander
- a drill press
- silk screen and screens
- inks
- a prayer or two

Uncut Blanks:

i'm thinking if this DID get off the ground, that i'd be forced to start by using someone else's already-molded unshaped decks...

but i'd really like to be able to design and fabricate (or get someone TO fabricate) a mold or two

it'll keep overhead down AND i'll be able to have more 'creative control' of what i can offer to people

-----------------------------------

now for the rant/blog part of this...(hey the other half of my brain needs a chance to speak too, ya know)

so yea man, after getting stoked on tim @ www.fivepointsskates.com, danny @f13

AND watching the Northwest DVD 6 times in the span of 2 days...didn't help quench my thirst for DIY skateboard's

-i've got the passion of the c2b
-the support of the wife...(actually, my wife wants to do this as much as i do)..so i've got that going for me, which is nice..
- and my kids dig skating (they're 3 and 1..soon-to-be 4 and 2)

thanks
