I still view them as more akin to boobies, it looks like the collar of a shirt at the top of the cleave...

My drawing skills are next to nothing, but I will tell you that the letter U in GUS is backwards. Thick part to the left. |

the eyes need to be fixed on her
a girly one i did for a...girl i was dating a few months ago.
a tribal i did for a kid when i was in HS. the guy that did it fucked it up royally. it is a W T C all stacked on top of each other (those are his initials.) just picture a thin break on the right side in that bottom shape to make the C...
anyways more pointless self promo. feedback is muy appreciated! |

gus- stop looking at regurgitated tattoo "artists" interpretations of roses, lotus' and the like- look at the flowers themselves. use more references; i.e. from the source- not from someone's poor attempts at them.
practice, practice, practice.

i agree.. most tattooers cant draw worth a fuck anyway.. not the stuff you really want to be studying.
check out some old botanical studies for reference on flowers. |

Hey Gus,
don't even mess with that tribal stuff...it isn't even worth your time....keep studying different styles...look for what you like and dislike. Everytime you draw something really pick it apart...You can't really learn anything by loving everything you do....you have to grow out of things....sometimes I'll tattoo something I'm completely happy with then a week later I look back on it and start to notice flaws with it...even if they're not major...
....You should read this book "Art And Fear"..its a phsycological take on artists...one part of the book really stuck out to me....I'll try to do it justice by giving you the basic idea.... Ok theres a high school pottery class. and at the begining of the year the teacher instructs one side of the class to make as many pots as they possibly can....and tells the other half to just do one, the best one they can possibly do....well at the end of the year both sides presented the pots...what ended up happening was that the side that had done the most pots, had also done the best....because they had also done so many of them. They learned from "trial and error"...so eventually they got really good because of they're expierience... to sum it all up.....just keep doing as much art as you possibly can....you will start unlocking some ideas...
haha sorry for the novel...just putting in my 2 cents... |
