I would like some imput from all you guys in the USA.

I live in a small coastal town of approx 15,000 people which swells to about 65k in summer holidays.

We currently have a shitty steel ramp park which is going to be replaced, Council has approved funds AU$180k and the site has also been approved. This amount of money, I know will only allow a relatively small park.

Since we have a mixed user base, skaters that dont surf, skaters that do and possibley surfers that will once there is a resonable park built.

Anyway what I am after is ideas for a small practicle bowl that will be fun for all My idea iis 4ft in the shallow and 8' in the deep. I am initially thinking something peanut shaped, but I want your ideas please

I do not want this new facility to be built as a street plaza only as I feel this will make it redundant and boring in a very short amount of time, the inclusion of a bowl will make it much more versatile and widely utilized park.

Either post you ideas in this thread or PM me Thanks

have you seen the mini bowl at Frankston Victoria. that would definitely cover beginners and the experienced but its more of a 3ft to 5 ft bowl with an extension on one wall taking it to 6ft (with concrete pool coping)

As another alternative checkout this link

such a fun park and built on a shoestring

hope it helps

SHoalhaven was built by a local so some of the work was thrown in for free. Not sure on the accuracy of my source but I heard under $100K.

The skateboard.com link lists a name could be worth contacting the local skate shop and seeing if you can get in contact with the original Designer.

Ive skated the place twice now and its such a fun park

Poke around on a few sites till you find something that looks good. Maybe you can swipe an idea and draw something up or buy some plans?
Who's going to build for you in OZ ans what kinda track record do they have?

This is a 4/7' kidney pool in Wellfleet, Mass. Its challenging enough for anyone ... even Kerry Getz.

The whole thing was built above grade because its right next to the beach. Breaking Ground Skateparks did the work.

Your best bet is to get ahold of Sloppy Sam and see what you can get out of $180K. Material costs change all the time so it's hards to say how far it will get you. In my opion Breaking Ground parks are better than Grindlines east coast crew. Their quality is just better. Little things like setting coping right matter. There are a lot of things that should have been better at Stamford. Also you need to know if there are going to be bikes allowed at the park. If they are I would forget about pool coping. In my opinion the best skateparks have the bowls as part of the street course and have long flat walls with bowled corners. Lewiston, Maine is a good example. These usually skate the fastest and have the most options. In the end its your park. Take the good stuff from the parks you skate and take out the parts you don't like and there you go.

BTW I would go 6ft in the shallow and 8 or 9 in the deep end if I were you. The Chicopee and Attleboro bowls has this and it works the best.
