any Northern California members remember the narrow downhill snake run (drainage ditch) in Sunol that ran parallel with the freeway?
It had coping and parking blocks set up on the sides and was a lot of fun in the early 90's.
I just drove by and climbed the hill to check it out and it's all overgrown with dirt and grass growing all down the run.
It doesn't look likes it's seen much use in the past few or 15 years. It looks like it needs a full day of cleaning and hiding from the cars that pass by.
anyone else remember skating that run? |

Nope, but I've been eyeing that area for a while (my daughter goes to school down there). I spotted a small spot underneath one of the foot bridges, but it is almost always wet. Can you give me directions to it, I might be up for a cleanup/run one of these days.
Also, in case we have an interested work party, there is a spot of amazing potential off Mission and Whipple in Hayward, but there's about 6-8 inches deep of sand that needs to get moved off the cement and into the culvert. A couple guys, a couple snow shovels could have it cleared in a couple hours. Easy access, as there is a jogging trail right there. |

Hey eddie - Yeah I used to skate the Sunol ditch in high school - short tight runs but hey it was close to me (Livermore) and hassle free. That'd be cool to clean it up!
Mission and Whipple, eh? Wanna send a google maps location? - I'd like to eyeball it next time I'm down there.
Speaking of Sunol, anyone ever skate the Rectangle in the Castlewood golf course? It was in the mags a few times. I used to catch a glimpse of it from the road, but never went for it.
Or shit, eddie, you ever skate the drainage ditch on old canyon road in Niles?
Actually, fuck all this, let's hit the HOOK! I gotta friend of a friend who can point us there! |

i've never skated the drainage ditch on old canyon road in Niles, at least not that i can remember,
isn't the ground over there toxic (from the factory that used to be there)? |

Umm the one I'm thinking of is just off Old Canyon, right after you take a right and cross the tracks. It's chain-linked off, but smooth and wide. Non-toxic, city water district ditch. |
