This was taken during the last Silent Sunday on South Mountain here in Phoenix.
The last Sunday of the month is Silent Sunday at South Mountain Park - and the park closes to all motorized traffic.
It is on these days that the AZ Bomb Squad meets in the open...

Must've been one hell of a long walk to the top though. |

It's not as bad as you might think.
The video starts at the saddle back about 2/3's up. There is a hiking trail that cuts up a ravine and pops you out at the saddle back (aka, the flats).
If you walk the road to the top from there (near to the towers), you can bomb the road and end up stopping at the flats again.
multiple hoofs to the top for bomb runs, then once your ready to call it a day, you pump a couple hundred yards around the flats there, then it's a bomb all the way back to the cars.
Youtube cuts you off at ten minutes I guess (not my thing), anyway, last 30 seconds got cut. He stops at the back of his car in the parking lot at the bottom! |
