Stupid Stories of Speed
I have a friend who will go unnamed because he is on here and will probably laugh hard at the story but more than likely is not about to come forward but if he does this is going to be funny.
It all started with discussions about bearings, which led to taking apart and reassembling sets. Which led to finish sanding the runners and then coating them. Which led to theory on lubricants and testing even the most unlikely including but not limited to ATF, Hydrolic fluids, light oils, lithium grease, aerosol teflon sprays.
By this point he is driven and testing many sets with a goofy footed madman test subject. The two of them racing downhills and from there it just gets too technical and my brain couldn't follow most of the results.
One night while reassembling a set of bearings in his bathrobe on the living room floor with trusted house cat watching from the couch. Using a new high tech spray he found talking to transmission repair guys. The vapers ignite from a spark caused by his bathrobe and carpeting and he blows himself up! Singes all hairs on his body and after being engulfed in flame like a monk in protest and while still smoking the house cat attacks him!
After that he decided to stick to oils.
anyone else have some good stories about trying to go fast? |

I'm sure no one on this forum knows more about bearings and lubricants than Rockin' Ron. I hope he reads this. |

First Session of 2008
Me: "Hey Ivan, ya gonna pad up?"
Ivan: "it's only a parkade..."
ten minutes later
Ivan: "think McDonalds will give us some napkins?"
Me: "Probably... we better get you cleaned up... there's a lot of blood..."
Eh turbo? did we learn a lesson about icy parkades? |
