Still in the planning stages so I'm sure I will ask quite a lot of questions, but this is it for now.
How many layers of sub-surface before the final skate surface. I was going to go with (1) 3/8" sub-layer followed by a 1/4" Sanded final layer. Should I go with (2) 3/8" subs or is the 1 sufficient? |

If you are only using 3/8'' and 1/4'' then you need two under layers and a third top for sure.(unless you will be using a lot of cross braces)
That is really not a very strong combo, go with 1/2'' for the under layer and 3/8'' for the top and that will be a hell of a lot stronger for just two layers but could still use a third layer.
Get some birch or skatelite plates for the top layer, If it's going to be outside then try and get the skatelite.
Plus.. If you are a larger guy then you for sure need three layers. IMHO |

How hard is it to bend 1/2"? I'm following Rick Dahlen's www.rickdahlen.com ramp plans pretty much and he has listed (2) 3/8" layers. But I imagine 1/2" would be better for a bottom layer. |

Hey Bro., its easy... It bends like 3/8's'' ply with about 1/8'' more tension on it.
Seriously, you won't tell a difference in it until your buddy who can ollie like a mother fucker puts his wheel through the two plys... like my old ramp with the exact same 3/8's under 1/4 top layers. |

I have two sheets of 3/8 and that is it...solid as a rock and I think that bending 1/2 is a total bitch. |

Well, I started work on the ramp today. I think I am going to go with 2 layers of 3/8" and a final 1/4" layer. It should last a good time like that. |

Dude. Half inch x 2. You'll regret it otherwise. |

2 layers of 3/8 and a layer of 1/4 is the same as 2 1/2 layers. And probably less work to bend. A lot more screws though. |

Meant 2 x 1/2 + 1 x 1/4
Bending won't be a prob. Don't worry about it |

let it soak for a bit and you will bend the 1/2 no porbs. Better to go as thick as you can and not have to redo it 6 months down the track like I just have...
