Anyone have any news on this thing?? Whats the deal? this thread has just been sitting here with no updates that are worth reading since BBB posted the plans. Are they really gonna pull through with this, or is it all just a tease??

This shit is legit. I was skating in the city the other day and my friends and i went to the lower west side (where the park is being built) and it appears that they are redoing an entire section of a park, right next to chelsea piers. I then looked at the layout of the park, and sure enough, there was a concrete skatpark as part of it.
A few moments later, i saw a guy skating who was wearing a California Skateparks shirt (yes, he worked for california skateparks). I asked him about the park, and he said it should be done in four to five months. Its going to be free, and you only have to wear a helmet. He was also saying that he was going to Bristol sometime this week to check that site out. fokk yah.

I was at the park about a month ago. The retaining wall was up around where the park goes. A sign near Chelsi Peers said the park will open fall of 2009. The California Skatepark crew that is currently working at Bristol CT (see Bristol post) is going to Manhatten next. They should arive sometime in the fall of 2008 to begin work.

I heard that they wont be starting the skatepark until the rest of the park around it is finished.

CA Skateparks is doing the work ... its just a site design design. And the site design park that sloppy built in northampton has pool coping. Nearly identical bowl to these.

NorthHampton is an awesome bowl!! The transition is smooth and perfect. You can fly around that thing. Super Fast.
