Just getting started and looking for some help on a top layer. I am installing 2 layers of 1/2" plywood and I have enough free masonite to cover it but I hear bad things about masonite and water. Let me know if you have any ideas. I also have to re build my flat section from 8' wide to two 4' sections. Too much flex the way it is.

Masonite is too slippery and will soak up water dude. Baltic birch (painted?) would be nice. |

He would kill himself on that ramp and moved to NYC.
I'll stop in Chicago on the way and pickup the other Neil aka Ian McDougall |

dont use Masonite outdoors...
as far as top layer, I have always used sanded 1/4 on top of a layer of 1/2 and 3/8. 1/2 layed the "rough way", the 3/8 layed with the grain and the 1/4 cross plyed but I had a shit ton more 2x4's then what you are using.
I am building a 4 foot mini with 6 foot transitions this fall and plan to use 1/4 sanded... I would love to have skatelite but cannot afford it!
personally 12 seems tight to me but that is just me... I would have gone 16 on the flat being you are taking it to vert... that is going to be fast as hell!
keep us posted! looks like it is going to be killer! |
