Ok...we have this pot luck at work for T'Giving this week. A co-worker and I convinced our other co-worker to make this stuff called "Scrabble". He says he makes it during Xmas time usually but since we bugged the shit out of him, he is making a huge batch for the pot luck (some just for our dept). Anyways, it sounds like Chex party mix but he swears it is soooo much more. He said it's a Northern thing passed down in his family. Anyways....any one else know what the hell this is and how "good" it is? |

I did a search and came up w/ a few recipes - it is pretty much the same as chex mix...there may be some tweaks to the recipe that the family has done over the years - - - but for all practical purposes it's a salty snack food. |

yes, but it is COOKED with Worshtershire sauce and butter....and they throw in some un-Chex Mix like things. He says it is WAY better than Chex Mix. I will report back after Thursday's pot luck. |

I thought the same thing @ first - scrapple...yet it is Scrabble. We make our Chex Mix by cooking it w/ butter and w. sauce. Add peanuts and pretzels to a 3 way mix of chex - salt & garlic powder.
Looking forward to the report. |

Nah just bring in the scrapple - that shit can get nasty.
As far as scrabble - think I've had some with a white sugar glaze over it as well..... |

ok...the pot luck is today so this morning I got a pre-lunch sample of "Scrabble"...I must say, this stuff is damn good. It is definately a step up from Chex Party Mix. I could see eating a whole bowl of this while watching TV before even realizing what I'd done. It has this buttery, salty flavor and then the worshtershire sauce comes through. All the little bits are soaked in the w. sauce/butter/spices combo. As far as what makes it up, it is pretty much Chex mix with plain cheerios, peanuts, Cheese-its, stick pretzels thown in with garlic powder, Lowry season salt, onion powder, w.sauce, and butter mixed in. Mmmmm I can see this stuff going fast at lunch today.....that is, if there is any left as we munch on it this morning in our little group. |

Hey - is it cooked/baked after it's all mixed together? |
