getting close to getting the first one (looking hard at the Rev. Horton Heat 'Revival' album cover - wording change of course).
What's the basic do's and don't re: tats?
Any lesson's learned???

**don't get inked by the apprentice or "the new guy". Find a reputable shop and spend the extra to get done by the guy who's name is on the front.
**Look at portfolios and past work by the artist.
**If you want some old school, "sailor jerry" inspired traditional tattoo like that....find the guy who specializes in it. It sounds stupid because the art looks simple, but better to get ink by the guy who does it all the time rather than the dude who's been doing traditional japanese art for 3 straight years and "used" to do that.
Good luck man, nice to see you around again! |

Don't tattoo your forehead.
Seriously though, as folk have said, shop around, try to see examples of the art done by your prospective artiste. Think long and hard - they don't wash off! And no spur of the moment whilst pissed out of your mind tatts either - a mate had one done on his shoulderblade of a windswept maiden's face....all good except her eyes are point ing two different directions...sort of like Marty Feldman. |
