when we first rolled out our
"hosoi tribute" logo, i got a bunch of comments about copywrite etc...
i got permission from jennifer hosoi to use it for ministry purposes, as we are nonprofit, and a Christian organization, christian was cool with it...
now with that said, i havent put out much, except a few shirts and hoodies for local bro's and skaters around town...
i doubt indy would make a stink about our shirts...
peace,
paul

I've seen tons of parody shirts showing companies' logos in order to send a message. One of my personal favourites is the Nike swoosh upside down with the word "satan" underneath it... Not a religious bash guys, so don't anyone freak.... Just a clever juxtaposition of Multi-national corporations with the worst of all evils...

You would not think INDY would want to make a stink of it but you never know. In one sense, if INDY were to view the "meaning" for the reason of the shirt as the general public bashing INDY for being trendy they might take action. On the other hand, if they were to understand why this shirt/sticker/quasi-INDY logo was made (TO PISS OFF THE PEOPLE THAT WEAR INDY AND DON'T SKATE)they will leave it alone.
Besides, let 'em go after Slob if they want. He's in Canada and I know DikVak and Co. want's no part of those 18" pythons.

You cannot compare Indy to Starbucks. Starbucks will sue you. |

Why don't you ask Jim Phillips how magnanimous NHS is?
Novak is the single largest property owner in Santa Cruz county. He has money to spare, and a legal team on retainer. The only guys that would get hurt would be Slim and Conscience. They should decide. |

I dont think there is much to worry about. The first step for the lawsuit is usually a cease and desist order, in which case you stop making the shirts. By then everyone already has theirs, and Indy leaves you alone because you are no longer making them. |

yeah, let's try to continue to keep this on the DL. I for one, don't think we did anything wrong. I'd rather not have someone spot the source, however....
Slob, can we blow up any of the posts regarding this? Everyone that wanted in, got in and knows the T's are on the way.
You guys are going to be stoked. I'm just happy to do something cool for all you cats. This involved a lot of input and contribution from the forum and together, we came up with something really funny. Realistically, if they really wanted to fuck with a company that gives all of its profits to help build skateparks, let them. As small as we are, I think if the media got a hold of some info that indy was trying to destroy our deal, they'd likely have to quit doing trucks and start making bike frames. As true as people are to indy, if they tried to eliminate a cause supporting skateboarding, they'd look like total pricks and would lose all credibility and respect.
I dig indy, just not the weenies rocking their shirts that don't know dick about the company. That's the motive for the shirt, not to indy bash. I don't think they'll have a prob with it. It's all in fun and not a total ripoff anyways.
but shhhhh anyways.
Hopefully this message will selfdestruct in 12 minutes....

Exactly, jahtooth.
I'm never one to stifle discussion or debate, but this thread is getting stupid and only serving to to cause anxiety amongst those involved.
I'm pretty sure both Novak and Fausto would laugh their asses off at the aformentioned t-shirts -someone should send them one!
I don't care how prepared anyone is for litigation, going after anyone for something like this just isn't worth it and it would likely never make it to court.
And I gaurantee this: ANYONE, AND I MEAN ANYF**KINGONE, THAT GOES AFTER ONE OF MY FORUM BROS FOR SOMETHING SO FUCKING STUPID AS THIS, WILL EXPERIENCE MY WRATH ON SO MANY LEVELS THEY'LL WISH THEY NEVER EVEN HEARD ABOUT THE INTERNET -LET ALONE THIS FORUM.
