you can actually get prefinished birch that has a hardcore layer of poly on it. Lumber products, a west coast distributer has it. you'd probably have to have your local lumber store contact them. I think both the 1/4 and 3/8 is available prefinished. it might be too slick of a surface though, I haven't tried it myself just know its available.
there is also a smooth 5/16" hardiboard that comes in 4x8 sheets. its used for soffits and stuff, paint it and it will last forever. It is also very flexible but hard to drill. I've got a sheet or two left from a project that I'm going to use on a ramp extension...we'll see. |
