so leave a small space around the edge of the decks then?
and what does pull them separately mean?
like, I have made a few designs that would start where the front truck's baseplate ends @ the nose, and goes all the way to the tails tip.... is that no good? |

we use wax paper or grip tape paper to protect the inked side. |

thanks boss, I wasn't sure if they would get messed up when I started pressing the decks, even with wax paper or something on it. You think they would the way the deck gets shaped.
I really can't wait to start doing all this.
Do you think emulsion will still work on a curved deck frame/screen? and if so, what should you put over it? I dont think a piece of glass would work due to the shape... but I am inexperienced, and still learning |

what do you need the glass for?
do you have knowledge of screenprinting in general? or are you jumping into it? |

I have knowledge of screen printing, and understand how to do it. the only problem i was seeing is the curves of the deck for doing nose to tail graphics.
the glass is to keep the design your burning with emulsion pressed down flat to weigh it down sorta. it will help burn a more quality and detailed screen. |

here is what we did.
it gives perfect contact the whole way.
our screen dimension is 24 x 48.
get a thin piece of plexiglass.
cut 2 2x10 with an arch that closely matches the curve of the screen
set them down on top of the light table
then plexiglass on them
tape your film to the screen for placement
then flip it over onto the plexiglass.
now the arched 2x10 will push the plexi into the curve of your screen.
pefect every time.
we have done halftones this way with excelent results. |

halftone is how you turn a continous tone piece of art (something that has gradations of color, like a photograph, shaded drawing or original art with blended colors) into something that can be printed in a monochromatic manner (like screen, block, or litho).
It takes intensity of color and breaks it up into dots that get smaller with lighter intensity, or bigger with darker intensity:
If your art is line art, or one color, black on white, red on black, etc., no shades of gray, on/off, ink/no ink, then you don't need a halftone:

if you plan on doing cmyk printing, you need to do halftones.
halftones can be tough to burn, especially really fine ones. i think what pennswood means is that his method works so well that if you want, you can print perfect halftones. |
