So I have these sector 9 trucks that i've been riding for a few years.
I used to have them on a longer board, but now they fit perfectly with my Mike McGill Powell.
I put the mini-cubic Powell wheels on them and busting huge powerslides never felt so good.
After my front right wheel fell off today while I was bookin it, I am begining to think these trucks are fucked.
So what exactly happens to old, thrashed, trucks that rattles the nut off of the same wheel after a session? I fucking love this setup except for this minor problem. A new nut doesn't seem to cut it... time for new trucks or is there an easy fix? |

metal threads wear after repeated uses (such as what happens if you clean your bearings every 3 weeks or so).
after time the thread is so worn on both the axle and the nut that the nut can vibrate loose.
You could buy some loctiteand put that on the thread which could work ok or you can buy some plumbers tape and put that over the thread.
Personnally I think cutting a new thread is a better option but then you have to get the right locking nut to fit the thread you cut.
In many ways getting a new truck is a safer and easier although more expensive option.

second glance revealed I was skating on a axle nut without the rubber in the middle... FUCKIN RAW
Replaced it with a legit one- gonna see how that works out. |

The nylocks in the nuts wear out after a while but if you do think the threads on the axle are worn, you can screw a new nut onto the axle backwards - nylock facing the bearing - as the threads should be less worn there. |

Thanks for the help guys!
Trucks made nowadays are so resilient... I was bummed that even after 5+ years these would have a stripped axle.

HAHAHA AT TOPIC TITLE
"Older, wider, trucks nut comes"
I was stoned when I wrote that and didn't realize the hilarity that would ensue! |

What are Sector 9 trucks? The trucks that came with your Sector 9? |

Yupp... dont really have enough money to buy better longboard trucks... well I do I just can't justify it since this is my cruiser setup. I really only put money into my transition/street deck now...
pics:
Wheels and wide truck base mixed with such a wide deck make powerslides waaaaaaaaaaay gnarly |
