right...as title says
never tried longboarding but really wanna give it a go.
love the style of just carving along, and to be honest with yer...its what i do now on most decks i ride anyway.
so im after some advice on whats good and whats not, what to look for and what to avoid. on most sites i see a lot of completes ready to ride.
these any good, or ???
cheers in advance |

I like to recommend Earthwing and either their Superglider or Supercharger...Those are designed with pushing in mind, so they're very comfortable for kicking around on. With the right setup, they can be made VERY turny and carvey as well. Most people swear by Indys on either of those boards, but I've had amazing luck with Tracker Racetracks.
Sector9 is available in any skateshop...Most of those are hard to go wrong with for a "beginner" longboard. The old Cosmic series is hugely popular, but they renamed it a few years back and I don't know the current name.
Otherwise, put an ad up in Wanted on here and see what comes up. Expect to spend $130 or less for a used complete, and somewhere around $200 for a new complete |

I have several setups for downhill. My favourite right now is a PPS gs rig with Bennets, rockin rons, and retro 60mm greens from abec 11. I would suggest google a local downhill club and hooking up with them and asking to try their setups. most towns have a crew who bomb parking garages. Try to stay away from completes, unless you just want a simple cruizer. Check out slobs collection for ideas. I cant remember the thread. |

I like the build-your-own option. Been sitting on this for a while and plan to set it up soon as cruising/carving might be all I can do for a while until my back is sorted.

I'll add a +1 to the Supercharger....I have a lot of boards to choose from (see below) but until I got the big Hoodwalker on the right the Supercharger next to it was the board I rode the most....for the record it's still in high use for pushing and carving I just spend more time dancing on the hoodie. As you can see I like Indy's a lot I don't thing there is a better all round truck and I use them for everything from Freestyle to Downhill

I'll add another +1 for Earthwing. Brian puts out some killer decks. |
