Yes, hanging is warping the decks. I don't hang my precious decks, i only hang the ones already warped or not so much in value. or i just hang them on the wall, take a picture and then store them. |

i hang everything. if they warp... meh... i buy em to look at. not stick in a box somewhere.
i get a buzz out of looking at them every day.
if they were in a box, i'd never see em.
whats the point, really? |

It's definitely about the walls and the house.
1- Don't hang your decks on a wall that has a floor vent just below it. The change in temps will warp that deck.
2- If you have a fireplace on the first floor remember that the heat transfers up to the 2nd floor walls. Walls close to chimney's have drastic temp changes.
3- Exterior walls facing the morning or evening sun are typically okay because they warm up slowly. However, if you have a wall in your house that faces the sun for most of the day you may want to avoid hanging the $1000.00 deck on that wall (especially if there is a floor vent there as well).
Dry basements (finished basements) with some temperature control are the best. Decks do much better in cooler temps anyways.
I keep mine in the lower levels of a converted missile silo in Kansas...

Dont quote me on this but i vaguely remember him saying that storing or hanging decks vertically on a wall is not the best for them and may cause warping. I think he said something about all the moisture in the wood getting pulled to tail and that causes warping, maybe? Im not positive on that though. I do remember him saying the best way to store them is on their edge, like you would store records. Something like that. Wish i knew where that article was.
that article is in the Disposable Skateboard Bible p.25
I'm looking forward to see the '$' in 'Disposable' pop up. |

I have noticed that lighting can be an issue. The can lighting above can direct heat on the deck, warming it like fries waiting at McD's
