I have had ZERO issue with my racks. I point the decks in different directions every few months.

Some decks are more suceptible than others, I have three completes in the garage all winter and none of them have warped.

Hang em' and cross your fingers.

I can't bring myself to take them down... Like everyone else has said, I haven't bought them to sit in a box, and it's not like I've got anything too special anyway. I guess I'd better knock my place down and design something around preserving my collection!

Thanks for all the help guys!

seriously, I start to wonder if a lil' warp every now and then really means the end of the world??

it's wood after all, and it's wood that was meant to be ridden within a few months, and not to be hung some 20-30+ years later - and still supposed to stay straight.

the decks won't be skated anyway...what's the problem if the deck that hangs on your wall isn't 100% straight?? is there such a thing? how can you prove your 'STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW' decks do not appeared warped when you'd take super exact, scientific-microscopic-what-not-else measurements??

I suppose some decks even came warped from the factory (I've ridden 2 or 3 warped decks over the last few years, and they were pretty brandnew). now THAT sucks, I've had at least one slam due to a warped deck, but that's another issue.

well, ok, if it starts twisting like a pretzel, we might have a problem.

ok, I can't wait for the shitstorm that'll go down on me

Who would've thought hanging a deck would be so complicated.

I got into this topic yrs ago, I have 110 boards hung, many re-issues warped / twisted.

I can't remember which fared better but some manufacturers were better than others.

Although, I had a good 45 min - hr long discussion w/ Paul Schmitt & he assured me it doesn't matter - it's random - there's too many variables in production from moisture content between ply's etc etc.

However I do believe in 1 thing - trying not to "shock" a board w/ humidty or temp change.

Being I live in Canada & we have some of the largest temp / humidity changes between sesaons I try to only ship during summer months.

Unless I buy local, Howard @ Cal usually holds some boards for me until I feel the conditions between here and Oregon are more similar.

All in all the discussion w/ Paul was fascinating - I told him I thought an article in Juice would be great - I forgot to try to contact Murph....

-Rod

Edit: Called Paul to see if I could interest him in a Juice article, I don't mind trying to arrange it, it was a wealth of knowledge that needs to be documented IMHO>

if you're THAT concerned about temperature changes, then you shouldn't have your decks flewn to your place. I'm pretty sure the packages are not getting any kind of heating during the flight, and are probably exposed to temperatures of -20C°-something. whether it's summer or winter. and for a couple of hours at least.

unless you're buying a first-class ticket for the deck...

Figures this would come from a Powell-loving Australasian new guy.

Fits the profile

Now make sure to constantly address everyone by "bro" and/or their first names. No usernames/scrennames.

Also make sure to use lots of smilies.

I see you're already into late-80's Powells so you are already set on that front.
