I don't have a problem spending over $150 for a longboard deck.
Or paying more than $200 for precision trucks.
But $70 wheels?
I just can't do it, no matter how good they are. |

the price is sorta steep, but they look pretty nice
I wonder why they're distancing them from the parent company? It seems like pointing out that it's a skateone product would be an asset? |

It seems like they're trying to disassociate These™ from Powell, but still keep These™ under the Skateone umbrella...being that Powell is the more street/park company, and These™ are longboard wheels. |

Let's face it- Powell/Skate One doesn't have any street cred with longboarders...... plus there are a lot of longboarders that never rode street or vert like most of us did, so the whole Powell Mystique is lost on them.
I have no doubts that These are great wheels, but I wonder if the price will turn away some of the sliding types. Me- if I bought a set, they'd last me a lifetime, no slides for this old fart.
I wonder if a whole new longboard company is going to come out of this..... the Hawaiian/surf themed products that Skate One currently makes is not being bought by hardcore riders, just the poser/casual riders at best.
Too bad, Powell/Skate one is a great company......but I hope to God they'll stay out of the RKP truck market. |

They better come with a reach-around while walking up the hill, too

For $70, you shouldn't have to walk up the hill.... |
