I've heard of people filling the coping with sand in addition to carpet or some type of insulation on the underside of the transition or under the platform to reduce noise.

I've got the carpet covered. I might try sand in the coping, concrete will probably start the rust process early. Will let you know how it goes.

Cheers Mark, i'm pretty happy with it. Laid the first layer of ply late last night. Not sure whether to go another layer and then masonite or just a final of masonite?? Will need some serious sound proofing though, it echos pretty bad. So far so good
