If it's not stiff enough, go with another layer of ply, then masonite. |

Yep, two layers of ply for sure. |

That's pretty bold of you to lay down your 1st layer of plywood vertically! Must be mellow transitions or those sheets woulda cracked for sure! If you can get away with that, that's awesome! I would put a second layer down on that, the horizontal way. But that's just me!
Either way, have fun shreddin' your new ramp! |

Try filling the coping with expanding foam. Contractors use it for insulation around doors , windows and pipes.you will have to drill holes in the coping to get it to run the entire length of the coping.it'll be in an aerosol looking can with a small tube that attaches. You could also do pour in place concrete coping😄
Batt insulation between the joists helps with sound proofing the riding surface. Put some empty cardboard boxes behind the decks to take up some of that space too. Looks super fun. |

It was pretty hard to lay it vertically. I had to hit them with a wet towel and could only just get them down with a 100kg mate on top. They are 9mm sheets.
@warehouse- I was going to have a go with the expand a foam and if it doesn't travel far enough up the coping, fill the rest with sand. Thanks for the advice guys. |

I spoke to the new neighbours today and asked if we had been too noisy, and the response was not 'too' loud. This confirmed my concerns and I embarked on a sound proofing mission. Finished 1 platform and filled the coping with expand a foam. Pulled the flat and layed cardboard underneath and filled the joists with insulation/ sound proofing. I won't be disassembling the pipe so thought I would make my best attempt at doing right. The apprentice may step up to second year status after her efforts today. Happy holidays!

I think your young apprentice is a little sloppy with her safety gear.
No gloves/Hard hat or boots in a construction site....
Looks awesome Dave, I can just imagine the shredding sessions that are going to take place there..... Very envious! |
