I just sold my childhood, a 7ply red dipped Tony Hawk chicken, on ebay, and Im suffering the worst seller's remorse known to man. I'm not sure why I sold it except that my buddy told me old boards are worth money. I thought whatever I will sell it since it has sat in my closet since the 80's.
Well I'm back with a vengeance, and I'm looking to reclaim a NOS Hawk. I stumbled on this site, and I have been learning a lot.
I see them going for $600-1200 on ebay. Some have stress cracks. Some are stamped with a 2 or C. Some are still in shrink wrap. Im ready to pull the trigger, but I do not want to get taken in the process. That is why I'm trying to learn. Why does it seem that being stamped as a blem does not affect the price? Minor stress cracks appear to kill the price? I want to use this board as the beginning of a collection. So is the going rate for a shrink wrapped board stamped as a blem $1100. Thanks for any help.
This whole process has inspired me. I'm going to get a board to use down at the park after hours so the young kids don't see a mid 30 something guy hurting himself trying to kick flip off stuff. |

The stamp does affect the price depending on what stamp
All these affect the price for any Deck
Colorway, Condition (NOS, paint cracking, chip, Delam, Warp Etc )
Prices never stay the same & always go up & down & sometimes they keep going up
just pick a colorway you Want & go at it...there's no science to it
In the long run it sounds like you want the same color that you sold....so price shouldn't matter base your spending limit on what the last deck sold for via AOS or ebay watch
Tht pretty much sums it up
Do some digging & you'll find all the answers to your wildest dreams .....but really use the search feature & digg away there's so much in the archives here & sometimes go to google ....it's all here & there |

Why not offer to buy the board back? You can't replace the memories and history you've had with that board.
Good luck and welcome to the madness. |

Im the worst ebay seller. Soon as it sold I felt that gut pain you get after getting kicked in the balls. So I sent the guy 2 messages each time offering him more than what he paid if he let me keep it. He did not respond to either so I shipped it. I see he knows how to play hard ball. I still have his email so I was going to hit him up soon, and see if he has had enough time with it.
Thanks for the advice on searching. I have learned a lot from this forum and also I purchased the disposable skateboard bible. |
