Alva with wheel wells

So I just received a Fred Smith Loud One I won on ebay. It has wheel wells. I noticed some do not. Were the wells on earlier ones then not included on later ones? Any info would be cool. Just trying to get some knowledge.

Wheel wells were mostly on earlier runs of certain decks.
