My son is thinking about joining the band at school.

A local music store had a test & tune to try instruments.

He likes the alto saxophone, but I have zero knowledge on it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Pro or Con

Thanks!

my son played alto from 4th to 6th grade. He got moved to Tenor sax because he was ahead of everyone else in band (went from private to public school where they didn't have band in 4th grade) and played it until the end of this past school year (8th grade). I rented his alto (and ended up paying it off over the course of the past 4 years) and he still has it. Swears he'll never play it but I paid too much for it for him not to

RTO sounds like a good idea.

Any brands to seek or avoid?

I think my son's is a Yamaha...can't go wrong with them. I'd also check CL .. Might get lucky.
