US Post tracking question

ORDER OF THE SKULL ORDER OF THE SKULL

I've got some hardware coming to me. San Diego, USA to Sydney, Australia.
When I put in the tracking number to check on the progress I get this message:
USPS Tracking™ is unavailable for this product for AUSTRALIA.

Anyone else seen this before?
Mike (Handplantwilly) has never seen this in 11 years.

Should I be concerned? It's been 3.5 weeks.

I was under the impression that all international packages sent through USPS go priority these days.

Usually the only time I see unavailable, wether domestic or international it's because the label number hasn't been scanned in their system.

If it's hardware, I guess it could be a small packet, possibly lost before it got to the terminal? If it would've gotten a scan, it shouldn't say unavailable. Maybe the shipper should check with their carrier if it was picked up and not dropped off. It's possible it could be in the truck, fell behind a shelf or behind a seat or some shit...

Small parcels are easier to lose/misplace.

Global Express / Priority Express / Priority Mail = tracking, guaranteed delivery times, some insurance included, extra insurance available

First-Class = no tracking, no guarantees, insurance unavailable, rarely alot cheaper than Priority and usually not worth the hassle

Nah it depends on the sender.
I get the odd 1 or 2 packages a month that are first class & dont have tracking.

fwiw Colin, these ones sometimes take 3 to 4 weeks to arrive. I think your ok.

I've been told by usps before that the only track-able international shipments are from the US to canada. The customs reference number can be used to locate a package once delivered but they say the info doesn't go on the web along the way.
