San Luis Obispo CA park is still open. I skated there yesterday with about 10 other heads. The great part about the quarantine is that the park is no longer a daycare facility where the scooter kooks are dropped off for with a fresh cell phone battery and a ten spot for a trip to the gas station for junk food.

There was a single scooter there yesterday and they ripped, and paid attention to the other people in the park. No prob with scooters like that.

Here in Australia some local councils have taken to filling the skateparks and bowls with sand.

Oh well gives skaters something to do - shift sand and skate

Haha reminds me of Braden's old tagline on Charlie:

Before enlightenment: clean drains and skate
After enlightenment: clean drains and skate

Skate within your ability at this time.
The hospitals are under enough strain without having to deal with a broken arm or whatever.
Plus, being in a hospital with so many sick, infectious people right now is not a good idea.

The other day I really needed to skate. I decided to go check the closest park to me that has a skatepark. It turned out that the parking lots were open and they had sandwich boards with signage to inform people to maintain social distancing and 6' spacing. The skatepark there has wooden ramps and a flat ground rail. Enough to dust the rust off and have a little fun.

Yesterday, I decided to trek out to the nearest Grindline skatepark and see what was up. It's attached to a large county park. I have been reluctant to waste the gas to drive out there on the off chance that I might be able to skate but after seeing what was going on at my local park I decided to give it a go. The parking lot was closed but from the road I could see a couple people skating. I drove back to park in a shopping center parking lot down the road and walked the 4 or 5 blocks to the skatepark. Turns out people are parking on the side of a busy road right in front of the skatepark section to use not only the skatepark but the rest of the park too. Seems much more dangerous for people to park on the side of a busy road than to use the perfectly good parking lot and maintain their social distancing. Idiotic rules. Anyway, it was a beautiful 65 degree sunny day, crowds were small and the park was clean. Overall it was a beautiful day to skate and great to get out and enjoy the fresh air and sun while rolling around.

Apparently, in my area the parks are all "closed" which really means the parking lots are closed but people are still using the parks and nobody is getting hassled for it. I feel lucky to be where I am.
