here's a little piece of wood from Raakel collection:D

When we were all in modern shapes, in early 90's
the Estonians were taking the ferry to Finland or Sweden
to buy the old stock of oldschool shapes nobody wanted anymore,
and u see the "weird" trucks drills was made for the old soviet trucks
the parts were so hard for them to find
still looking pretty good!
He also has a great Corey O'brien in good shape as well
Sometimes they even would cut those to fit the modern street shapes

Interesting history on those decks - did someone ever think of documenting it? If not, I guess there's a mission for you...

The hotspots of skateboard history have been well documented, but there's still some stuff to do when it comes to skateboarding in lesser-known countries or regions that had to struggle with social, economical and political issues... Last year, I had been involved in the screening of "King Skate", a documentary on skateboarding in Czechoslovakia in the late-70s till 90s period - there's amazing stories lurking in spots you'd never expect! and sometimes, good footage as well!

Seems to me that in countries with a tight political schedule and restricted individual liberties, skateboarding satisfied even more the urge of freedom!

yes definitly !
I saw the great "this ain't California" german doc. it was also kind of interesting
bit less on the human side but the history around it was nice
but now it's time to skate
winter is behind the corner !!
Plus my 2 friends here are the only 2 guys who skate in late 80's begining 90's who still skate these days
I guess the lack of proper skatepark in the country could be a reason.... for older skater not to really keep on !
