illustrator works better for vector. go to limewire or someother file sharing site and download Toatal Training workshop video/dvd for photoshop. its good shit. the training for illustrator was like 16 hours long!

let me know if you need anything

The drag is that a lot of folks think if they have the "magic" software...then they're an artist. Fuck that. A computer + software is just a really fancy pencil. Yes it will streamline a lot of things for you, but if you don't have the skill/talent....shit in=shit out.

Bobby nailed it. Learn to draw. That dude makes more art than most folks I know...he's a machine...the more he works the better he gets. He has a disease...a good one.

If you ever look at Picasso's early work...that fucker could draw. He learned the rules...then he broke them.

@mohawk

they're definately right about drawing. if you can't draw, then find someone who can. the thing about using illustrator is once you have the drawing, pic, logo ect. you scan the picture then trace it in illustrator, freehand, whatever and you have a vector image that can be resized and recolored and manipulated while keeping the best line print quality possible. I can't draw too good either but if you practice at all the above mentioned you'll get some kind of process that will work for YOU and what you want.

Knowing the programs isnt really enough. I can use pretty much every graphics program out there but I still dont have a creative bone in my body. Manipulating images is one thing, but starting a graphic or image from scratch is beyond me. I let my wife create and I stick with scanning and messing up her drawings.
