My wife shot this on the last day of our honeymoon. Derby is now my favorite skate spot. I liked how the photo ended up, with no other persons around, and the view of the snakerun and trees in the back. It wasn't meant to be some artsy type photo, and it isn't, but I was pleased with it. |

Derby is in Santa Cruz........
It's funny how something like that can still be as fun to skate today as it was in 90 when I got to ride it the first time.
I am going to drive down there again soon.
Great picture.

awesome, sorry I've never been out west... I've lived in the mid west and east coast all of my life.
I'd love to visit California one day... not just for skating but surfing and food and everything else that comes with it. |

Honestly Derby kinda sucks. That didn't stop me and my friends from camping out there on the weekends. It took 2 hours to get there on the bus, but it was the ONLY skatepark anywhere back then (1985-87). There is one hip at the top of the snakerun that is cool. It was ahead of its time back then. I might go visit again but just for the memories, not the snakerun. |

No offense, SCS, but I can't get past the irony of a guy with the moniker of SantaCruzSkater who doesn't know where Derby is, and has never been to Santa Cruz.
You DO skate, right? |

Derby is the shit. That snake is hard to master but once you get it and know how to hit the hips its really fun. Perfect park to go to on a sunday with a sixer |
