Hey, what do employees get for wages in skate shops out in San Diego? Just wondering, if i move out there, could i support myself by working at one? or is it like the industry and impossible to just walk into, even with experience?

If I had to guess I would say that they get paid very little. Plus they probably only hire there friends. Also I don't know one skater who would not want to work in a skateboard shop, so it's not like they are desperate for new employees.

You might be able to get a job here but rent
on 1 closet sized room tends to be about $700.00 + a month

pomona is a little less than san diego,but i would say "location" is the key...maybe somewhere around a high school or so...that will keep ya in business for years...oh,don't forget to open the shops around 2:30 pm,otherwise you'll have some kids playing hookey around your store :}

Dude, I haven't seen anything here for $700 in 5 years...well, maybe a closet size.

Yeah, you can get a job here - there are hundreds of skateshops.

But, you won't be able to afford to live here working at a skateshop. Especially within 10 miles of the coast. People pay around $1500 for a 2 bedroom... Glad I bought a house so I don't have to throw that cash away!

ROOM-MATES.... Prob about 1/3 - 1/2 of San Diegans Have room-mates...

I pay 1200 for a 2bd 2ba apt... and I am about 20 miles from the beach... yeeaachh...

As for supporting yourself working at a skateshop.... I don't think it will ever happen... you will prob need 2 or 3 room-mates...

you will be lucky if you find something halfways decent for 700 bucks...and that would be in San Ysidro area...just one step above living in TJ but I would say to expect to be atleast into the $900 range for a studio...

good luck...
