The 170 in black....

...and need some advice on bindings. I'm 6'0, 225-230 lbs, size 12 or 13 boot, and would consider myself and intermediate on a board. I'm just into hauling ass, big carves and some deep powder. What bindings do I need? Cost is not really an issue. Thanks in advance.

I would go with the burton missions - large

They are nice on the feet, no heel lift on the base...most bang for the $

Get the newer models with the "cap strap" toe strap...it's the shit.

I've demo'd several boards and one Never Summer. It blew away the competition.

Thanks for the advice, Upland. I'm taking you up on it!

It's a perfect match for the rider... somewhat DAMP and very STIFF

...and I see it's got the Stubbs "WAR EAGLE" graphics...

you'll be stoked, burton makes the best bindings. The cap strap is the frickin shit for sure...keeps your heel stuck to the back of the binding and takes the pressure off the top of your foot. Those missions are $180 retail and I would think you can get a pair for less than that on the bay.

I just looked at the base material on that board you got stubbs...that shit's gonna be fast. Keep it soaked with wax when it's not in use...keep it waxed period but in the off season give it a thick coat for storage...IMO

I agree the Burton Missions are not bad. Definitely go with the capstrap.

But, I'm a Technine guy. Marc Frank Montoya invented 'em, although Burton and Technine have a co-patent agreement (Burton claims they invented them, MFM claims he did). The sure thing is that Technine put the capstrap toe into production first, because I've had the Technine MFM for two seasons now, with the "Baltimore Toestrap"- long before Burton put 'em on their line of bindings last year.

Technine, hard to go wrong. Lifetime warranty, capstrap, and lower price than the Burtons. But, that's just me. I've nothing against Burton at all - they're fine bindings. But it's just a preference thing. I like Technine bindings, myself.

Toe Cap Info!!!!!
I had heard rumors, and now I just saw that it's true on the Transworld Website. Flux Bindings was actually the first to file for the Toe Cap patent! They will be releasing their's next year, and it's fully adjustable to fit any brand of boot!!! It's nice to see that someone finally can stick it to Burton!

Here's the story regarding Technine / Marc Frank Montoya and the patent agreement:

Technine's "Balitomore Toe Strap" vs. Burton and their "capstrap" Patent Agreement

Flux Bindings Introduces New Design
by Press Release

01/12/2005

The rumors are true, Flux Bindings will introduce the T.M.S. Toe Mask Strap at SIA in Vegas and it will be on nearly the entire 05/06 line of bindings. How can we do that you're asking? Flux designed the original T.M.S. system and was the first to file for a patent on the technology for the U.S. and Japanese markets! With everything going well we expect to receive the NOA (Notice of Allowance) from USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) sometime in June this year.

About The T.M.S.: Every snowboarder knows that the purpose of a toe strap is to prevent your toes from lifting and also to keep your boot from wobbling forward out of position in the binding. What every snowboarder also knows is that traditional toe straps can only hold the boot down, and the only way to prevent it from wobbling out of place is to crank it down as tight as you can, causing that not so wonderful loss of feeling in your toes. The design team at Flux has been hard at work for over a year now perfecting our Patent Pending T.M.S. (Toe Mask System) to fix all of the problems associated with traditional toe straps, and even the problems associated with other "toe cap" straps. By that we mean that the Flux T.M.S. is fully adjustable and even allows for proper contouring of the strap based upon the shape of the toe of the boot, so no matter what boot brand you have it will fit like a glove!

It's innovations like this that keep Flux on the cutting edge of the binding market. So be sure to check our the 05/06 binding line from Flux at your local dealer next season.

tellin you man,
