If nobody around here from the scene is familiar with anyone, I'd strongly encourage you to at least ask around with other people in your area about who does good work.
Although it seems like you don't really give a flying fart one way or another about getting one, I imagine it could be the source of some pretty intense regret for you to have a shitty tattoo for the rest of your life that you didn't even want in the first place...

@green monkey...
the random phone book selection thing was a joke. im planning on getting em done by someone good, safe and talented. its something ive wanted for a while (ive drawn it on myself in permanent marker at least 20 times), its just now ive decided to get off my lazy ass (and ive got the cash to pay for it finally) and get it done. its just that nervous feeling you get when its your first tatt. being permanent and all...
@seth...
thanks dude. ive also heard good things about them from elsewhere, i was just trying to get an OS opinion on any known tatt artists in melb. i reckon we'll be heading in there pretty soon. their site looks cool. ive been in there before (to the shop, not the site), but was looking for further validation on what i was leaning towards. so yeah, thanks again. |

yup Vic market Tattoo are real good & safe. I got a piece done there a few years back, mine was done by a guy Simon Moody, he's not there anymore [i dont think] but I think he may be at tattoo magic in Collingwood.
They have a good rep but I have also heard they can be expensive. but you pay for what you get.
I still recommend Vic Market Tat's |

Dave, there is a skater buddy of mine, his name is Jordie Cole, he is the same generation skater as you, he is always booked months in advance and is super good. He did some apprentiship training in the US and has his own tattoo shop in Fitzroy. I totally recommmend him without a doubt, I don't have any ink on my body, but he knows skate graphics (that's if you intend to get something skate related) and all the skaters that know go and get there stuff done by him.
Cheers,
Tone |

geordie cole is a great tattooer and an all around good guy. i spent some time with him in japan a few yrs back.. we lost him on a day trip to yokahama... thought i'd never see him again. scary stuff!
several hours later he shows up like nothing had happened. odd one, that guy. |
