I was wanting to know who makes who's bearings.

There are some good bearing companies out there, but Ive seen a ton of smaller companies, or even large companies introduce a bearing line.

Are the Bones Reds made in a Powell facility, or made exclusively for Powell?

What about Ninja, Pig, Speed Demons, etc.

I know of Edsbearings.com
Ive tried those, and they were alright...no biggie though.

Powell - China and Switzerland (though Switzerland is shutting down). Exclusive design on the Swiss, but the manufacturer does bearings for anyone.

Rockets - USA by NMB to spec, assembled and lubed at California Bearing, home of Rockin' Ron's Rockets Bearings.

Oust - Not sure.

Builtin - Not sure.

Ninja - Not sure.

The rest? China, Taiwon or Hong Kong. Most are made in China now by Hangsheng, including almost all the small and large companieswith very few exceptions.

You'd shit your pants if you saw the mark up some of these companies are making. We're talking less than a buck for overseas bearings, and a buck and change for the ZrO2 ceramics (lower quality, low performance, white balls).

What's funny is just how many companies use the images from Hengshen's pricelist on their websites and in their ads.

I believe Bones Swiss bearings are made by WIB, which is now owned by RotoPrecision, a Canadian company.

70% of the modern skateboarders only need a good industry bearing (fag, skf..)
due the impacts and load while skating.
I always chuckle when someone "tests" his bearings, while holding the board in
the air and spin the wheels from hand. "Look how long they spin"
But how good a bearings is, is only showed under load!

Second the setups today are horrible,
why sell spacers, that dont work in 99% of todays wheels? aslong the wheelmanufactors
dont have a "standard", there must be 12mm spacers + a rasp in the skateshops!
Last but not least, trucks now are available in many colors, but the hangar/axl is still shit.

Bearings are only a part, normally people should talk about spacers, wheels and trucks too!
And not only where its made, how its made! You can have the best bearing in the world,
but if the specifications from the rest doesnt fit together, its still shit.

Early seals were manufactured in Singapore (one thing they do well with quality material). For the last year they haven't been.

My seals say Made in Thailand
use enough grease and you can run without seals on your bearings..

come on, much things are worse on skatestuff as bearingseals!
what is printed on your hardware, use a microscope, it got to be a print somewhere!!
this is getting funny.

Seriously, this whole "made in..." is bullshit. In fact its only to make money.
Many (skate) companys even re-packed their stuff in the past,
that "made in china" would not make them lose customers.

But did something really change in the last 10 years? Take a mid 90s setup and a brandnew board.
One might say made in the usa, the other made in china.
The made in the usa is maybe better quality of the materials,
but the specifications and the workmanship is poor on both.

I mean, is it so hard for Indy (ok mexico) or tracker to use true 8mm axl?
Or a wheel has always 8 or 10mm space between the bearings?
Isnt there a quality control in the factorys?
Is it sooo hard to work on little things for a better skateboard?
When above points are done, people can talk about bearings or even the seals
