OK, I had this idea to help out the smaller skateboarding companies with marketing their products. I figured there are plenty of people on this forum that run their own shops or at least work at them and maybe we can give them some decent ideas of approaching skateboard shops and distributers. I have been on both sides of this fence and learned quite a few things on the do's and dont's. Would this thread interest anyone?

Sure, give us the do's and don'ts! I just finished my own mesh hats, t shirts, and a few decks so I'm sure this thread will be of interest to me.

I'm distributing in the UK if anyone would like to send me some photos and prices of what they have to offer that would be great. If I like what I see and the price is right we could get a deal together.

Can anybody out there doin there own deal give me some info. I just started a small company and shopped some product around town. People are definitely interested. The question is how much do you wholesale your boards to shops? Is 28 a board good? I spent about 17-18 on the boards each. At this point I'd like to make a little bit of profit to put back into making more product (but at 28 I'm really not doing so) but to get some of my boards into shops for the exposure would be nice. So how much do you wholesale to shops? Thanks.

i had some decks made for me recently that were screened with my logo, got them for $17.50 a piece for a run of 20. very nice decks made locally for a good price, i can price them at $35 and they look like a great deal compared to my standard $49.95 'name brand' decks. I've only had them for 3 weeks and the ones that have ridden them say they have plenty of pop. that's probably gonna be a problem for you there, not sure how my guy is making them so cheap but you'll have a hard time selling them to a shop for $28 i think. i sell powell mini logos and superlights also, they fly outta my shop at $30 and $35...

best of luck, btw the guy i bought my shop decks from is http://www.resistskateboards.com, he may can give you some pointers into making them for less cost...

edit - i thought this was the web adress, but page isn't coming up for me, i'll check with him in the next few days and will re-post if different
