Looking for something inexpensive that I can go fast with, carve hills, but not empty my bank account for.

I was planning on getting Bennett downhill trucks (when they come out), Retro Big-zags or seismic speedvents, and of course, rockn rons, on this holy set up.

Sector 9 any good? After seeing them so many times at mall "skate shops", I'm kind of worried if they're comparable with other, more expensive brands, in quality. The sector 9 "bomb hills 2" board looks nice.

MAN

take a beater street deck pre 91
CUt some wheelwells and make it a drop thru

throw on your favorite trucks and gooey wheels and you got the ultimate downhillin carve machine and it din cost nuthin

My favorite setup for downhill fun

or laydown 159 for a chinese longboard with shit wheels and cheap trucks

I bet the for sale section of a few of the Longboard forums have bargains

I have the sickest 41 inch decks made from snowboard cores but they are all gone from the maker and I ain't parting with the two I got setup

Nah man, I'd never drop 160 on some piece of shit complete. It just seems that all the nice decks like subsonics are $120+. Combine that with the price of the trucks and wheels I want, and it's higher then I'm willing to go. For me, I find that most of the performance in a set-up is in the trucks.

I'm also digging the longboards at Eastbuilt.com, eastbuilt any good?

The quality is fine, if you'd like to finish your own deck, yes.

I have one for you that's recently surged into our hearts as a killer speedboard/carver: the Pressure Drop 42", with formica bottom. Killer price, super quality, gonzo deck. Randals, Bennett RK's, Holeys...whatever floats your boat, etc...

the arbor decks are sweet ... and good looking too. Completes come with either randal or revenge trucks.

if you want a cheap deck build one yourself, all the decks i ride are homemade, it's twice the fun
check www.toothless.be.tf for a very easy building instruction

All you need is a nice old wood waterski, make sure the bottom is flat, and a jigsaw. Take all the binding shit off and round off the tail. Ride it backwards, with the bent up nose as the kicktail. I made one, and it kicks ass. I put some Indy 149s on it with Abec 11 wheels and it rips. It's a little narrow, so not the best for carving, but for downhilling it workds great.
