The local channel 12 Connecticut TV news crew met me at noon and I did a B & E with the lock codes provided by a compliant 17 yr old Y summer employee - Frankie - who took my phone call. So they've got me skating in a golf shirt and hush puppies. And bitching about the pay to skate deal/limited hours. Some skatemom w/2 groms show up and find out the park isn't opened yet but then they get interviewed and I bailed. Now as I type this the reporter is still there, trying to skate, essentially trespassing ... "We'll lock it when we leave?" Me: "Okay" ... and I alerted Frankie that he better get his ass over there and pretend to anyone who asks that he thought it was 2:30 o'clock instead of noon. The park opens at 2:30. If he get fired I'll pay him to paint my house.
This should be interesting when I get back there after my physical therapy appointment.
The "I can do this I'm a hockey player" reporter put his mike on the board and ate shit hard - detroyed a $750 mic. And a cellphone. He's wearing the tie, some back tassled loafers, and my borrowed phunkpads/helmet. You can't make this shit up. I might be in jail tonight. |

Patrick the reporter had a hipper. Body slam into the wall.
Some goon did this overnight. Not good.
I got an interview on TV and forced the mayor to come out to the skatepark and respond "We like the arrangement with the YMCA. They cover the liability insurance and keep it staffed."
He made no mention of the price to skate.
I got in some good points. Pissed about the spraypaint though. |

That spray paint is plain dumb, sentiment is okay, but there are better ways to express it, and especially dumb while there's a meda blitz going on... |

That's a short-sighted kid for you. A big cardboard sign would've accomplished the same thing.
BBB--MASSIVE props to you for becoming the now-public elder statesman of CT skateboarding. Great work. The drama of this crusade is downright riveting. You're welcome to come to RI and crusade for a decent conrete park here.
That reporter is nuts. That looked like an expensive friggin' suit to be wearing while slamming into a pool wall. Tricker than hockey, huh??? |

That article really goes to show how the town of Milford really doesn't give a shit about the skaters in the area. They're comfortable with the "unuse of the park." Give me a break. Whatever at least Sam got a job out of it.
Trying to get kids to wear pads and a helmet is like trying to stop the drug problem. You can pass all the laws you want but people are still going to do it. |

After a few warm January days the inevitable happened and the gate on our $40,000 fence has been ripped from its hinges. Just like last winter.
I plan on orchestrating a group barge the next time it warms up. Hopefully I can get a good crew of "civil disobedients" to make a scene ... |
